By Car/Taxi
You can rent a car, with or without a driver, at the airport "Leonardo da Vinci" or in the city (see the Yellow Pages under "Car"). Remember:
* Like any other big city, Rome has parking problems
* Many nearby streets are not accessible by private cars
* The petrol stations are closed between 12:30 and 15:00 and after 19:00.
Bus/Subway
The best way to get around in the city is using the bus, subway or tram lines. The metro consists of two lines (A and B), which goes across the old town rather quickly. Buses run from 5:30 am to midnight. After this time they begin the night runs as shown at the stops. The subway began to circulate at 5:20 and end at 23:30. A ticket for the entire network (75 minutes by bus + 1 Metro run) costs 1.5 Euro. Tickets for bus and subway can be purchased at vending machines, bars, tobacco shops and kiosks at the bus terminal. After 24:00 you can buy airline tickets on night buses. Tickets are also available daily, weekly, and monthly.
How to reach the Department by using the buses:
Many buses stop near the Faculty of Engineering, both on Via Cavour (Lines 11:27) and close to the Colosseum (lines 81, 85 and 87).

The train can be used from Fiumicino Airport to reach the stations of Rome Termini and Rome Tiburtina: they depart every 45 minutes from 6:00 to 22:00 and there are no intermediate stops. The cost of a ticket is 8 Euros.

The cost of a ride to downtown is around 40/50 Euro, to which the following extras must be added:

* extra for holidays
A taxi run from the airport in Rome (or vice versa) takes about 50 minutes and should never exceed 90 minutes during peak hours (around 7: 30-9: 30 and 17: 30-19: 30).
