1-Terna Rete Italia S.p.A. on the topic ”Development of Voltage Source Converters for  Electric Power Transmission Systems".
 Candidate Profile: the candidates, without discrimination on the grounds of gender, age and citizenship, must have the Bachelor's degree (old degree) or Bachelor's degree Specialist or master's degree, or equivalent academic degree at Italian Universities, in Electrical Engineering, or Electronics Engineering. 
 
1-D.MARCHIORI S.r.l.  on the topic " Design according  to MIL-STD 461F e MIL-STD 810G. Programming lianguage C, C++, Python (Linux e Windows), Java (Android)”
Candidate Profile: Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required with documented skills on: industrial power electronics, automated controls, machines and electric drives, development environments for assisted 3D design.
Location of activities: Aprilia (Rome)
  
1-DIAEE on "Innovative power systems for nuclear fusion applications"
Candidate Profile: A Master Degree in Electrical Engineering or Energy Engineering is required, with documented skills on:  electrical machines and power systems, , power electronics and medium and low voltage distribution systems.
The scholarschip is co-financed by ENEA and the location of activities is: ENEA Research Centre, Frascati (Rome)
 
1- ATENEO on a topic proposed by the candidate.
Candidate Profile: Master Degree is required.
Location of activities: DIAEE (Rome)
 
Qualification
 and
 Evaluation criteria for the admission of candidates to the 33rd cycle
 
Candidates must submit the qualifications required by the specific profiles and the project proposal related to the topic chosen by August 23, 2017 (12 am) by e-mail to the Ph.D secretariat (monica.fiorini@uniroma1.it). The project is not a constraint for the activities that will be carried out during the PhD. Documents have to be sent as .pdf file and have to not exceed the size of 5 MB.

Candidates for the scholarship funded by Terna must have obtained a Master Degree (as specified in the candidate's profile) with a minimum mark of 110/110. In addition, the "Research Experiences" will be considered as Titles only in the field of transmission and distribution of electricity. Any scientific publications submitted by the candidates will be considered if the topics covered fall into the issues of electrical systems, energy technologies and transmission networks.
 
The candidates for the scholarship funded by D.Marchiori must have completed the first and second degree with a minimum mak of 110/110. In addition, the "Research Experiences" will be considered as Titles only referred to programming in different environments and with different processors and in the field of electromagnetic compatibility. Any scientific publications submitted by the candidates will be considered if the topics are related to servo-controlled systems both in hardware and software.
 
2. Project
 
For the purpose of selection for the PhD, the candidate must submit a project to assess his/her inclination to perform the research and ability to plan and organize the various phases of the project autonomously. The project description must not exceed the maximum length of 8000 characters (spaces included). The project presented for competition purposes is not binding for the candidates admitted to carry out the research activity during the PhD course. In particular,  the following aspects will be evaluated:

The candidate must explicitly state which scholarschip wants to compete for and the proposed project must be consistent with the relevant topic.
 
Oral examination

At the oral test, candidates who have achieved a score at least 40/60 will be admitted to the overall evaluation of the titles and the project. During the oral examination, aspects related to the qualifications presented and to the project will be clarified. The oral examination is passed if the candidate has obtained the minimum score of 40/60. The minimum  scores for admission to the PhD are 80/120.
 
For each single scholarship, the candidate rankings will be drawn up, giving them an explicit indication. If there are no candidates for one or more scolarship, non-winners eligible for the other scholarships may be awarded a vacancy if they have the skills considered as appropriate.
 
The scholarships will be awarded according to the order of ranking, taking into account the choices of each candidate. If candidates in the list do not match the skills, the scholarships financed by external Corporations will be not awarded.
